The nurse technician, assigned to and under the supervision of a licensed nurse, is a cherished member of the health care team and responsible for direct patient care with duties that vary within the range of contributing to the health, safety, and comfort needs of the patient. At times, the nurse technician might be called upon to perform tasks that include: pushing, pulling, lifting, or transferring the patient.

With an extensive training and professional knowledge of direct patient care, the nurse technician can be found to lend support to units which specialize in treating: pediatrics, geriatrics, inpatient care/hospitalization, ob/gyn, and the operating room, just to name a few. Nurse technicians are also called upon, at times, to work with home health care providers and be supportive of patient care that is administered outside of a hospital setting.
